Cornwall Central NY senior Karrie Baloga, winner of the Champs Sports Cross Country Championship race, and 2010 winner Aisling Cuffe, join DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss their relationship to one another and to the race in San Diego that they both won. Baloga won the the 2022 national championship race on her third try, just as Cuffe did. Cuffe recalls being motivated to beat a local road mile record held by Baloga's mother, and Baloga talks about the the four-year pursuit of Cuffe's achievements and records. Both were mentored by coaches David Feuer and Brian Creeden. Cuffe finished 12th in 2008, fourth in 2009 and first in 2010 in San Diego. Baloga's progression was almost identical, with 11th as a freshman in 2019, fourth in 2021 and first in 2022.
