Kenyan-born Cheserek edges Zeinasellassie by 1 second at Foot Locker Nationals

In a high school race that the U.S. running community had long been awaiting, two African-born teenagers produced an epic.

Edward Cheserek could not distance himself from Futsum Zeinasellassie until the very end of Saturday's Foot Locker cross-country nationals at San Diego. Cheserek ran the 5,000-meter course in 14 minutes, 52 seconds, finishing one second ahead of Zeinasellassie.
