Brasovan stands tall against cross country competition - USATODAY.comPublished by
12/14/07 By Jim Halley, USA TODAY Ashley Brasovan of Wellington (West Palm Beach, Fla.), was the top girls runner at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals at Balboa Park in San Diego last week. To win, the runner stayed back early, then made a move at the two-mile mark. She ran past the leader, 2005 winner Jordan Hasay of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and 2006 winner Kathy Kroeger of Franklin, Tenn., and finished first in 17 minutes, 20 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. It was Brasovan's first time at the nationals. She spoke recently with USA TODAY's Jim Halley.
