Edward Cheserek of St. Benedict's Prep has chosen Foot Locker over Nike

Edward Cheserek of St. Benedict's Prep, the 2011 Foot Locker national cross-country champion, has chosen to defend his Foot Locker title rather than try to qualify for the Nike Cross Nationals, St. Benedict's coach Marty Hannon announced on Thursday afternoon.

Cheserek, second to Lukas Verzbicas at the 2010 Nike Nationals, said he would prefer to run at both national meets. But Cheserek, a senior and a 7-time national champ, had to choose between the two because Foot Locker and Nike scheduled its qualifying meets, the Northeast Regional, for the same day-Nov. 24.
