A cup sign spells out

A cup sign spells out "Go Anna" with a runner icon in the fence at George Wilson Park for Anna Rohrer, the Mishawaka High School sophomore who competes Saturday in the Foot Locker national cross country championship in San Diego. There's an irony here: The biggest race of Anna Rohrer's life is also one of the smallest.

"In terms of the number of runners, this will actually be the smallest race (Anna) will run in all season," says Mishawaka coach Chris Kowalewski, looking ahead to Saturday's Foot Locker National High School Cross Country Championships. "She actually likes to have a pack to run with during a race. It brings out her competitive nature."

Well, the pack part shouldn't be a problem.

The best of the best - including Mishawaka sophomore Rohrer - are gathering at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif., to determine this year's high school national cross country champions.
