39th Annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships Northeast, South and Midwest Regionals held this Saturday, Nov. 25

 
WHAT:

Top high school cross country runners from more than 38 states will compete in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) Northeast Regional, South Regional and Midwest Regional on Nov. 25 in hopes of becoming a National Finalist.
 
Entering its 39th year, the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship is the longest running cross country race in the nation, comprised of four regional 5K races across the country.  The Northeast (Bronx, N.Y.), South (Charlotte, N.C.) and Midwest (Kenosha, Wis.) regional races will be held on Nov. 25.  The West Regional (Walnut, Calif.) race will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2.  More than 10,000 of the nation's leading high school runners are expected to compete in the regional meets. 
 
The top ten finishers from each seeded regional race qualify for the Foot Locker Cross Country National Finals (December 9 in San Diego, Calif.) and will join the likes of Olympians Meb Keflezighi and Ryan Hall as well as American record-holder, Alan Webb.
 
Northeast Regional Information:
 
Historic VanCortlandt Park is the site of the Foot Locker Cross Country Northeast Regional. Olympians and National Champions such as Edward Cheserek, Donn Cabral, Aisling Cuffe, Cathy Schiro, and Jen Rhines competed on this storied course.
 
The Northeast Region, consisting of athletes from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Overseas Military Installations, will race along the 5,000-meter mixed terrain course at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday, Nov. 25.

South Regional Information:
 
Iconic McAlpine Park hosts the Foot Locker Cross Country South Regional Championships. Legendary runners such as Reuben Reina, Bobby Curtis, Aurora Scott, Erin Keough and Jennifer (Barringer) Simpson competed on this same course at this very event.  McAlpine Park has recently undergone major renovations including a dramatic widening of the starting line, as well as the installment of new and wider bridges, providing a better experience for all runners.
 
The South Region, consisting of athletes from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. citizens in Overseas Military Installations, will race along the 5,000-meter mixed terrain course at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Midwest Regional Information:
 
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside has been home of the Midwest Regional for the past 32 years and has spawned the career of many runners who went on to become national champions including Adam Goucher, Jorge Torres, Dathan Ritzenhein, Lukas Verzbicas, Grant Fisher, Megan Goethals, Melody Fairchild and Anna Rohrer.
 
The Midwest Region, consisting of athletes from Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and U.S. citizens in Overseas Military Installations, will race along the 5,000-meter mixed terrain course at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
